  • Information:
  • The exhibition was organized by Hong Xianyun, a local artist, and Curator Lu Huahui of the Lucoral Museum. Hong's oil paintings of the everyday life and sceneries of Penghu may seem ordinary at first glance but they depict the traditional lifestyles and wisdom of Penghu in the early years. They did not fade away with the passing of time, instead they were preserved in timeless paintings enlivened by intricate shapes and lines as well as cascading layers of paint in a faithful and simplistic manner. They authentically show us Penghu during its traditional and rustic era. Curator Lu carefully selected 101 pictures, 101 jewelry pieces and tools to accompany the text descriptions.
She also created a unique craft with marine resources and personally went to the Solomon Islands to host a corresponding craftsman's workshop as a means of cultural exchange. This enabled Penghu to share her abundant marine resources and “beautiful oceanic sceneries” and to cultivate marine-related talents. Lu was invited by Hong to return to her home and exhibit her story of being away from home for 50 years. She shared the story of how Luperla started out. The stories of these two women of Penghu who left their homes at a young age to embark on their career paths served as prime examples of the tenacity of the residents of Penghu.
